Will is the most successful point-to-point rider in history. He has many years’ experience in riding and producing young horses, ranging from hunters to showjumpers, but his primary focus is racehorses.
Alongside his riding career, Will runs a breaking-in and pre-training yard which, in its short existence, is already producing great results. An example of this is McFabulous. Trained by Paul Nicholls, this lovely gelding by Milan won three out of his four bumper starts in the 2018/19 season, including the Grade 2 bumper during Aintree’s Grand National Festival. Another horse that has progressed well through the ‘Biddick Academy’ is Stage Star, a gelding by Fame and Glory, who won the Grade 1 Turners Novices’ Chase at the 2023 Cheltenham Festival.
In the summer of 2023 Will and his team moved to a new location being Vale Farm in Sparkford, the farm of Will's Father-in-law Rupert Nuttall. In the heart of the Blackmore and Sparkford Vale hunting county they are situated within a short distance of 12-times champion National Hunt trainer Paul Nicholls. Having worked for Paul for several years, Will counts himself lucky to have his support as he continues to expand his business, and he has the added benefit of access to top-class training facilities.
Will has built up a great team who work very hard to ensure all the horses are cared for in the best possible way.
Will and his team are ambitious and are always looking for ways to expand and develop the business, working alongside owners and trainers to provide bespoke training programs to meet the horse’s individual needs.
BREAKING
Will has been breaking-in and educating young horses since he was a teenager, and in September 2017 he set up Biddick Breaking and Pre-Training.
PRE-TRAINING
Will also provides further education through pre-training. He has great facilities for pre-training whether the horse in question is being trained straight after breaking-in or it’s coming back from a rest period.
POINT TO POINT
Will rode in his first point-to-point aged 16. After a successful couple of seasons, he joined leading trainer Venetia Williams’ National Hunt yard, and it was in his five-year stint there that he really learnt the art of race-riding.
